Andrew Huberman’s Sleep Cocktail for Better Sleep
Here’s something that has worked well for many of my clients, and if you’re seeing this page, it’s likely we had a discussion about getting better sleep (which is crucial to your health, fitness routine, and for fatloss to happen).
For many of my clients, addressing their sleep issues was the magical piece of the puzzle that allowed everything else to fall in place and help them go really far in their fitness journey.
I also would not be recommending anything I did not already try and experience for myself. (I use this daily).
Andrew Huberman, PhD, is a neuroscientist and professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine in the departments of neurobiology, psychiatry, and behavioural sciences. His research has focused on brain development, brain function, neural plasticity (the ability of our nervous system to learn new things and build new brain cell connections through our experiences), and vision.
If you’d like to dive deeper into the topic, Huberman goes in great detail about sleep, the supplements and a whole toolkit of things you can do to get better sleep – I’ve linked the podcast episode below:
Sleep Toolkit: Tools for Optimizing Sleep & Sleep-Wake Timing | Huberman Lab Podcast #84 (1:40 hrs)
Andrew Huberman’s sleep cocktail
Reducing stress and winding down are key factors in getting a good night’s sleep. Huberman’s combination of supplements aims to achieve that by using a mixture of compounds that individually have the potential to support sleep. When added together, they may also work to enhance effects like falling asleep faster and getting a deeper sleep, too.
Huberman includes the following supplements in his sleep cocktail:
- Magnesium threonate or magnesium bisglycinate daily
- Theanine daily (get the 200mg)
- Apigenin daily
- Glycine every 3rd or 4th night
- GABA every 3rd or 4th night
- Myo-inositol every 3rd night or when woken mid-sleep
** links above take you to iherb.com to purchase
Many of our clients find significant (almost dramatic) improvement in sleep quality (and ease to fall asleep) by consuming the first 2, or all 3. Taken 2-3 hours before bedtime.
The cheapest way to get these items shipped to Malaysia are from iHerb. The links are embedded above. Item 1 is a one-month supply, Items 2 & 3 are a 3-month supply – so it’s really good value.
Most times, you’ll qualify for free shipping. Remember to keep your purchases to below RM500 to avoid being taxed or your items being held at Malaysian customs.
Hope this helps you as much as it has helped my clients!
